What We Do
🏠 Rescue & Immediate Care
At Promise Giving Children’s Family, we work in close partnership with hospitals, police, social workers, and local authorities to rescue children from life-threatening situations, including the streets, hospitals, and abandoned locations. Every child rescued is immediately welcomed with compassion and dignity.
Upon arrival, each child receives:

📝 Admission Process
Admission is guided by the child’s best interests. We prioritize family-based solutions before institutional care. All admissions require assessment and coordination with the Sub-County Children’s Officer (SCCO) and a court committal order.
🔹 Non-Emergency Admissions

🚨 Emergency Admissions

Apply to abandoned, lost, or at-risk children

Must be reported to the Children’s Department and police within 24 hours

Children may be admitted if they are:

⚖️ Legal Compliance
We ensure all children have proper documentation, case histories, and court orders. The CCI works closely with the SCCO to support family tracing and safe reunification whenever possible.

Many of the children we rescue face significant health challenges, including malnutrition, untreated illnesses, and the lasting effects of neglect. Our goal is to provide comprehensive, ongoing care to ensure that each child receives the medical attention needed to heal, grow, and thrive.

🍲 Street & School Feeding Program
Fighting Hunger. Fueling Education. Restoring Dignity – We go beyond our walls to address hunger in the wider community. Our Street & School Feeding Program delivers hot, nutritious meals to children living on the streets and to students in under-resourced schools within informal settlements.
For many of these children, the meals we provide may be the only food they receive all day. Hunger not only affects their physical health—it impacts their ability to learn, stay in school, and dream of a better future.

We operate two family-style residential homes:
📍 Tena Estate, Umoja – Nairobi
📍 Saika, Ruai
Together, these homes care for over 100 vulnerable children, ranging from newborns to 18 years old, ensuring they grow up in a safe, stable, and nurturing environment.

Our dedicated team of social workers carefully guides the reintegration process through the following steps:
Family Tracing & Social Assessments: We conduct thorough investigations to identify potential family members and assess their ability to care for the child.
Home Visits: Each home is carefully evaluated to ensure it provides a safe and supportive environment for the child.
Counseling & Support: We provide counseling for both the child and their family to help them prepare for the transition and strengthen their bond.
Ongoing Follow-Up: After reintegration, we continue to offer support and monitor the child’s well-being to ensure their successful adaptation.

Equipping for Success. Empowering with Support – Access to education begins with dignity, but for many vulnerable children, the lack of school uniforms, shoes, bags, and learning materials stands in the way of attending class. At Promise Giving Children’s Home, we believe that no child should miss out on an education due to poverty.
Through our School Uniforms & Mentorship Project, we provide:

Restoring Joy, Creating Memories, and Honoring Every Child’s Life – We believe that every child’s life is a gift worth celebrating. For many of our children, birthdays have gone unacknowledged—no cake, no candles, no song. That’s why we go the extra mile to ensure that every child in our care experiences the joy of being celebrated, remembered, and deeply loved on their special day.
Each month, we host a vibrant group celebration for all children born in that month. The day is filled with laughter, games, music, dancing, special meals, and personalized birthday cakes. Every child receives a heartfelt gift—sometimes their very first—and enjoys a moment in the spotlight, surrounded by friends, caregivers, and volunteers who cheer them on.
These celebrations are not just about marking another year—they help build self-worth, create cherished memories, and remind each child that they are seen, loved, and belong.
